UPDATE:The 19th National Conference on Intelligent Systems Held at Sirjan University of Technology
The 19th National Conference on Intelligent Systems of Iran was held on October 23–24, 2024 (2–3 Aban 1403) at Sirjan University of Technology, with the participation of a significant number of professors, students, and experts from across the country.
This edition of the conference was materially supported by Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, Goharzamin Iron Ore Company, Jahan Foolad Sirjan, GolGohar Iron and Steel Development Co., and Gohar Energy Sirjan, and enjoyed moral support from the Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, and the Research Institute for ICT (ITRC). Out of 263 submissions, 111 papers were accepted and presented through oral and poster sessions.
The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday, October 23, at Gohar Park Amphitheater, starting with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Dr. Mohammad Javad Mahmoudabadi, President of Sirjan University of Technology, welcomed the guests and introduced the conference agenda. He was followed by Dr. Mohammad Shahram Moein, President of the Iranian Society for Intelligent Systems, who elaborated on the society’s plans for the national advancement of intelligent systems. Keynote speeches were also delivered by Dr. Tabibzadeh, President of the Kerman Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines, and Agriculture, and Dr. Hassanzadeh, President of IranDoc (Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology).
A memorial tribute was held in honor of the late Dr. Lux and Dr. Badi’, with heartfelt contributions from their spouses. Dr. Nersisian, Dr. Tayefe Mahmoudi, Dr. Moein, Dr. Akbarzadeh, and Dr. Moshiri shared personal and professional memories of these distinguished scholars.
After a short break and refreshments, the first keynote speech was delivered by Dr. Razavi, President of ITRC and Associate Professor at Iran University of Science and Technology. His talk was titled:
“Convergence of 5G/6G Wireless Networks and Artificial Intelligence: A Future Perspective on Smart Transformation.”
A specialized panel on addressing energy imbalance in industries through smart systems and AI-powered energy awareness followed, featuring:
- Dr. Rashidi (President of the Iranian Smart Grid Society),
- Dr. Fotouhi (Sharif University of Technology),
- Dr. Fereydounian (K. N. Toosi University of Technology),
- Eng. Mousa Ahmadi (CEO of Gohar Energy),
- Dr. Jadid-ol-Eslam (Sirjan University of Technology).
The day concluded with a second panel on the Opportunities and Challenges of AI Integration into Business and Industry, with participants including:
- Dr. Rostami (Head of the Research Center of Kerman Chamber of Commerce),
- Dr. Nezamabadi (Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman),
- Dr. Najib (local entrepreneur),
- Eng. Sotoodeh Bahraini (R&D Director at Golgohar),
- Dr. Moein, Dr. Akbarzadeh, and Dr. Moshiri.
A recreational tour of Gohar Park was held for guests at the end of the day.
In parallel, virtual presentations were held on Wednesday afternoon (14:00–16:00) at Sirjan University of Technology.
The second day began at 8:00 AM with oral paper presentations. Following a refreshment break, the second keynote lecture titled
“The Past, Present, and Future of Artificial Intelligence”
was delivered virtually by Dr. Moghimi, Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University and Technical Lead at Google DeepMind.
Later, a meeting between Sirjan University faculty and Dr. Hassanzadeh was held at the Khajeh Nasir Hall. The day continued with oral and poster presentations.
A special session titled “AI for Good” was held to present the Dr. Akbarzadeh Award for Best AI Thesis/Dissertation in Service of Society. Four top papers were presented, followed by a Q&A, and awards were presented to the selected authors.
At 5:30 PM, the General Assembly of the Iranian Society for Intelligent Systems was held online.
The closing ceremony began at 6:30 PM in the university’s amphitheater, featuring a keynote by Dr. Ghorabi on Smart Cities.
This was followed by a speech from Dr. Falakpour, Head of the UNESCO Chair on AI, outlining UNESCO’s AI initiatives.
Eng. Ehteshami Nia, Executive Secretary of the Conference, presented the event’s final report.
The event concluded with the announcement of top papers, expressions of gratitude to the organizing team, and the official closing of the 19th Iranian Conference on Intelligent Systems.
