According to the Public Relations Office of Sirjan University of Technology, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, the Gravity Challenge titled “Egg Drop” took place from the height of the university’s Cultural and Student Building. The event was attended by a large number of students and was organized by the university’s Mechanical and Energy Engineering Scientific Association, in collaboration with the Cultural and Social Vice Presidency.
🔹 In the Egg Drop competition, participants were required to design and construct specific structures to encase an egg in a way that minimized damage when dropped from the building. Innovation and creativity in developing a new idea for egg protection, along with having a technical and engineering plan, contributed to the success of the egg’s safety during the fall.
🔸 The criteria for judging the competition included: the successful preservation of the egg, smaller volume and weight of the structure, the integrity of the egg-carrying device after the fall, landing within the specified area with accuracy, fall time, whether the egg exited the structure upon hitting the ground without human intervention, and the overall creativity, innovation, and aesthetic design.
🔺 The goal of this competition is to inspire ideas for designing and constructing structures and mechanisms that can assist humans in sending and launching probes to other planets while minimizing damage to these probes.
