Three Professors and Researchers Among the World’s Top 2% Most Cited Scientists
Based on the latest data published by Stanford University and Elsevier Publishing, three faculty members of Sirjan University of Technology (SUT) have successfully registered their names in the list of the World’s Top 2% Most Cited Scientists in 2025.
The Public Relations Office of the University reported that this list, which is published annually with the aim of assessing the scientific impact of researchers worldwide, is prepared based on indices such as the number of articles, citation count, journal impact factor, and the H-index.
The names of Dr. Saeedeh Barzegar Parizi, Dr. Meysam Atashafrooz, and Dr. Behnam Akhoundi are among this year’s honorees from Sirjan University of Technology.
Dr. Alireza Normandipour, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs, congratulated the university’s academic community on this achievement, stating: “This success demonstrates that our professors and researchers are active on the frontiers of knowledge and have been able to make a significant contribution to global knowledge production.”
He further added that this ranking evaluated the performance of researchers across 22 scientific fields and 174 specialized sub-fields over the period from 1960 to 2024.
Referring to the growth of Iran’s position in this list, Dr. Normandipour said: “The number of Iranian researchers included among the world’s most cited scientists has increased from 2,326 people in the year 2024 (equivalent to the Persian year 1403) to 2,533 people in the year 2025 (equivalent to the Persian year 1404); a statistic that indicates the enhancement of the country’s level of scientific impact on an international scale.”
This achievement is considered a valuable accomplishment for Sirjan University of Technology and further elevates the university’s scientific standing globally.
